A Letter From the Founder
Greetings Biohackers,
Something happened to health advice. It used to be simple, understandable, and easily integrated. It has become overly complex. It is often overshadowed by a pharmaceutical culture prioritising quick fixes over sustainable health solutions. The demanding pace of modern life further complicates matters, shifting focus away from holistic well-being. There are many more causes, but the effect is clear. We have strayed very far from taking ownership and taking the action we know to be good.
During my health journey, from suffering chronic pain to depression to addiction, I spent many an evening exploring rabbit holes of allied health interventions. Rabbit holes of how to optimise my health by any means necessary. How to find a path to overcoming the issues I was facing. And I did overcome those challenges. So, that’s what I want to give you: the right information to take charge of our health and go back to enjoying every day that we are lucky enough to be alive.
It’s crucial to listen to and follow your doctor’s advice AND explore supplementary avenues. Keep an open dialogue with your doctors, and ensure you know what may help and hinder the medication or treatments you may or may not be taking. While the advice and resources offered here aim to supplement traditional medical care, they are not intended to replace professional medical advice from your healthcare provider.
As a doctor in the NHS, I am fortunate enough to witness the strengths of Western medicine, particularly our capacity for life-saving procedures, therapies, and medications, as well as the amazing disease-modifying therapies in use, with many more on the horizon. However, I also see opportunities for us to embrace broader healthcare measures, particularly preventive practices where traditions like Eastern medicine have shown great efficacy. This realisation and my own health experiences led me to create this platform.
Western medicine is too often framed as THE standalone solution. But it’s not. As a culture, we lag behind the East in terms of preventative and longevity practices. Many patients I encounter go the extra mile when looking for shortcuts or a magic pill, skipping the simple age-old advice. And so, I decided enough was enough.
That’s where The Biohack fits in. I am making these resources as a reminder of the additional path that doctors often don’t have time to sit and talk through. The lifestyle changes that will make the biggest difference to your health, and that will enable you to reach all your goals. But arguably most importantly, to redefine Biohacking – with a focus on the mindset shift that must precede any new habit.
This is not a journey I can undertake alone. I invite you to join this community effort: please share your thoughts, critiques, and topics you wish to explore.
In the meantime, thank you for stopping by. I look forward to helping wherever I can.
With my warmest wishes,
